From Raw Hide to Refined Leather
Leather manufacturing transforms raw, perishable animal hides into durable, flexible material by first curing and soaking the skins to strip away hair and excess tissue, then chemically stabilizing the collagen fibers through drum tanning with chromium salts or natural tannins to prevent decay. After tanning, heavy rollers press out excess moisture so precision machines can slice the hides to an exact thickness, followed by drum dyeing for full-depth color and fatliquoring with oils to restore softness. Finally, the dried leather receives protective surface coatings, pigments, or embossed textures to maximize water resistance, durability, and visual appeal.
